The 2012 INA Convention & Trade Show will be Thursday and Friday, February 2-3 at the Downtown Marriott Hotel in Des Moines.

The event will showcase outstanding performances and sessions that will inspire and educate everyone on your newspaper staff.

Two highlights on the program feature Iowan and internationally renowned explorer Charlie Wittmack and a multimedia musical performance by Freedom Sings®. Freedom Sings, a product of the First Amendment Center, offers an exciting and dynamic musical look at censorship in America during Friday morning’s kick-off session. Wittmack, best known for being the first person to complete “The World Triathlon,” an 8,000-mile triathlon that stretches from rural England to the summit of Mount Everest in Nepal, will deliver his inspiring presentation during Friday’s Past Presidents’ Luncheon. Read an ESPN magazine feature on Wittmack here.

Make your convention experience complete by attending Thursday's events. Thursday begins with a free networking lunch for newspaper professionals and college students and an enlightening panel discussion with three Pulitzer Prize winners each with Iowa ties. In addition, Ken Paulson of the First Amendment Center wil lexplore emerging business models designed to drive revenue in a “culture of free” and how critical they are to preserving journalism’s watchdog role. The annual Publishers’ Idea Exchange, Trade Show Reception and Presidential Reception will round out the day.

Sessions on Friday will cover ways to boost your bottom line, use technology to increase audience, increase productivity and improve operations in all areas important to newspapers, from circulation to news to digital media to advertising. Featured speakers include national and local favorites such as Max Heath, Kevin Slimp, Greg Swanon, Rick Farrell and Chris Snider.

Capping off the convention will be the Friday evening Awards Banquet, where winners in the Better Newspaper Contests will be honored and the 2012 Newspaper of the Year will be named.

Again this year, you can register without even leaving your desk through INA’s online registration service! Register online by clicking here.
