Next Generation of Journalists
The Iowa Newspaper Foundation works to attract more young people to the newspaper industry.
• Each year the INF Scholarship program awards thousands of dollars in scholarships to college students preparing for newspaper careers.
• The INF partners with the Iowa College Media Association to bring scores of college students to the annual INA Convention. In 2007, the INF implemented a new mentor program that provided students the opportunity to meet with professionals to discuss their resumes, portfolios, and career goals.
• The INF works with the Iowa High School Press Association (IHSPA) on a variety of projects.
• More than 6,000 copies of the INF's Newspaper Career Guide have been distributed to middle and high school students throughout Iowa.
Internships
Each year the INF publishes a listing of the internships
available at Iowa newspapers, which is distributed to Iowa high
schools and colleges.
